Fresh Maple Leaf Roast Duck, Whole Duck carved Tableside Served with Orange Sauce, flamed in Brandy; Grilled Ostrich Served with Brandied Mango Chutney Au jus; Loin of Canadian Elk Naturally roasted in it's own juices and served with Delicately Seasoned Lingonberry Sauce; Tenderloin of Fresh Western Buffalo, The Finest Filet Mignon you will ever taste. Come by yacht for Sunday Brunch on the Intracoastal Waterway and enjoy a feast. As a rule, people patronize waterfront restaurants more for the view than the food, which is usually more of an afterthought than anything else. The Blue Moon Fish Company, however, created by talented co-owners and chefs Baron Skorish and Bryce Statham, is that rare waterside eatery where the food is the star attraction and the view is the afterthought. The signature seafood dish is a pan-roast of lobster tail, scallops, clams and mussels in a brandy cream sauce infused with tarragon. Go To Website: Blue Moon Fish Company | | | Name: Cafe Italia Address: 3471 North Federal Highway City: Ft Lauderdale, FL 33309 Phone: (954) 561-3900 Cuisine: Cuisine: Italian Comments: Cafe Italia is the only true Italian restaurant with cuisine made from the finest and freshest ingredients by Italian chefs. Cafe' Italia Restaurant is owned and operated solely by Italian descent. Owner Francesco, from Abruzzo, is highly educated in central Italian cuisine and delivers only the best on the Italian menu. The charm and taste of the Old World Straight from the Heart. The service is good and the food is excellent.I> Go To Website: Café Italia | | | Name: Cafe Martorano Address: 3343 E. Oakland Park Blvd. City: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 Phone: (954) 561-2554 Cuisine: Italian Comments: Café Martorano, though small, is much more than a neighborhood restaurant. Its owner-chef, Steve Martorano, is one of the most talented Italian chefs. He has a perfect understanding of and an ability to interpret, with delectable results, the true nature of Italian cooking. A restaurant that is simply yet whimsically decorated and is impeccably clean. The kitchen is open for all to see Chef Steve perform. It is always busy and often quite noisy, and you must take your chances because there are no reservations to be had. Your best bet is to arrive early. Go To Website: Cafe Martorano | | | Name: Canyon Restaurant Address: 1818 E. Sunrise Blvd. City: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33308 Phone: (954) 765-1950 Cuisine: Southwestern Comments: There are plenty of reasons to sup at this terra cotta-hued Southwestern café located just next to the Gateway Theater. The Prickly Pear margarita (see Best Margarita), the trendy Sante Fe interior and the meat, seafood and pasta entrées that originate in the kitchen, among them. But no trip to Canyon is complete without an order of escargot drenched in a porcini mushroom port wine reduction sauce and served on a polenta cake. Escargot is routinely served in butter and garlic in other restaurants, but at Canyon it's bathed in an earthy sauce that combines Italy (the porcini and polenta) and Portugal (the port). The serving is large enough for a full course, but share it with someone you love or even someone you like a lot. It's a multicultural culinary marriage that should last a lifetime. | | | Name: Casa D'Angelo Address: 1201 N. Federal Highway City: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 Phone: (954) 564-1234 Cuisine: Italian, Tuscan Comments: Partner and executive chef Angelo Elia's Tuscan-style eatery is a visual and gustatory treasure. His wood-burning oven makes every veal, fish and chicken dish resonate with flavor. Seasonal game is another treat. Pasta combinations suit every taste, the wine list excels and his zabaglione is superb. Service is Old World professional, and while you're enjoying his food, also admire the Ionic columns and beautiful floral arrangements. Together, they make this restaurant one of the best around. When Elia says, "I'm never satisfied with myself," you know you're in for a real treat. | | | Name: Japanese Village and Steak House Address: 716 E. Las Olas Boulevard City: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301 Phone: (954) 763-8163 Cuisine: Oriental Comments: Japanese decor with waitresses in traditional kimonos, Sushi, Sashimi, Tempura, Teriyaki and Hibachi Grill service, Steak, Chicken and Seafood. | | | Name: Reserved | | | Name: Primavera Restaurant Address: 830 E. Oakland Park Blvd. City: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334 Phone: (954) 564-6363 Cuisine: Italian Comments: After 16 years, this stylish, Northern Italian eatery still offers myriad beautiful-looking foods, from appetizers like mussels in cream sauce and cold seafood salad to innovative pasta creations, Dover sole, almond-crusted duck, salmon and veal. Ricotta cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake are classics. Go To Website: Primavera Restaurant | | | Name: Sage Cafe Address: 2378 N Federal Highway City: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33305 Phone: (954) 565-2299 Cuisine: French Comments: If you are looking for superb country French cuisine at reasonable prices in a casual French bistro ambiance then Sage French Café is the perfect choice for dining out. Sage French Café is owned by award winning Chef Laurent Tasic. Featured entrees include Daube de Boeuf with mushrooms, prunes, orange zest and herbs; Steak Maurice topped with asparagus, mushrooms and melted Brie; and Canard Rôti aux framboises et au miel and roast duck prepared with honey raspberry sauce. Seafood entrees include Saumon Coulibiac (salmon baked in a puffed pastry) - Bourride, a seafood stew prepared with a variety of fresh fish and shellfish seasoned with aioli. Of course Sage Café offers purely sinful desserts such as Sage's famous crème brulée which is perfect when accompanied by a deep, rich espresso! Go To Website: Sage Cafe | | | Name: Sukhothai Restaurant Address: 1930 E. Sunrise Blvd. City: Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 Phone: (954) 764-0148 Cuisine: Thai Comments: Sukhothai was the ancient capital of Thailand, but at this contemporary restaurant, it is no indication that the cooking is traditional. A classic appetizer like nam sod is made with chicken instead of pork, though the lime and chili remain in place. The kitchen uses an extremely light hand on spicing but will crank up the heat if you ask; you might want it in dishes like pork with green beans or the coconut-milk-based curries. |
  | | Name:Caffe Luna Rosa Address: 34 S. Ocean Blvd. City: Delray Beach, FL 33483 Phone: (561) 274-9404 Cuisine: Italian Comments: Watch the moon rise or look out over the beach. Comments: The food is mostly flawless at the only South Florida restaurant to receive the Five Star Diamond Award from AAA. Consider guava braised beef short ribs with okra, corn, passionfruit and truffled sprouts or pan roasted rack of lamb with cordero frito. Deserts also world class. | | | Name: Kathy's Gazebo Cafe Address: 4199 N Federal Highway City: Boca Raton, FL 33431 Phone: (561) 395-6033 Cuisine: French Comments: The Gazebo Cafe is like going back into time when perfect service and exqusite food were much more common. In today's world a truly a rare find! This restaurant, I think, is Boca's best kept secret. If you love great Dover Sole, Veal with Morel Mushrooms, the world's best (trust me on this one), Calf's liver and on and on you'll love the Gazebo. If you like to have fun eating - sit at the cooking bar - you will be amazed at how the Chef's cook with such skill!. Go To Website: Kathy's Gazebo Cafe | | | Name: La Viellie Maison Address: 770 E. Palmetto Park Road City: Boca Raton, FL Phone: (561) 391-6701 Cuisine: French Comments:Open since 1976, it has been hailed as one of South Florid's finest restaurants. The décor is more Boca eccentric than South of France. Made up of several intimate dining rooms, this isn't a typically stuffy French restaurant. The menu isn't a relic of some bygone time. Instead, French technique is used in preparations from around the world. Caviar is here, so are sweetbreads, but they're sauted with sesame seeds and oriental vegetables. Every dish is near perfect. A place for intimate celebration | | | Name:Legal Sea Foods at Palladium City Place Address: 550 South Rosemary Avenue City: West Palm Beach, FL 33401 Phone: (561) 838-9000 Cuisine: Seafood Comments: The restaurant is located on the second level of the Mall, and seats 280 guests. There is a semi-private dining space which can be reserved for parties of up to 45 guests. Legal does take formal reservations, as well as, phone ahead seating. Its been five years of success for chef Mark Militello. Dine outside along Spanish tile fountains or indoors in the visually stunning dinning-room with high back Italian chairs, cool slate flooring and imported Italian Onyx bar overlooking a soothing twenty foot Japanese waterfall. I can't forget the Ceasar Salad. | | | Name:Renato's Address: 87 Via Mizner City: Palm Beach, FL 33480 Phone: (561) 655-9752 Cuisine: Italian Comments: Continental cuisine served in an intimate European setting. Try the Bucatini Matriciana, a hearty pasta dish, Farfalle with calamari and Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. Everything is great at Renato's, right down to the warm focaccia bread served before the meal. | | | Name:Trevini Ristorante Address: 151 Worth Ave. City: Palm Beach, FL 33401 Phone: (561) 833-3883 Cuisine: Italian Comments: Italian restaurant located on the second level directly across from Neiman Marcus on Worth Avenue. The food is truly Italian, the service is very attentive and the maitre'd Nikola is the best. |
  | | Name:China Grill - Dragon Room Address: 404 Washington Avenue City: Miami, FL 33139 Phone: (305) 534-2211 Cuisine: French Asian Comments: A sister of the Manhattan site, the World Cuisine at China Grill is depicted on an award wining menu format. Chef Efhraim Kadish overlooks this menu, as well as the one in New York. A multi-level, club-like atmosphere is where the stars come to shine when visiting South Beach. This is the beach's splashiest, flashiest, and most celebrity-studded dining facility. Don't miss the Asian "paella," with bits of fresh seafood, chorizo, mango, and coconut. Or double your spiciness with a wasabi-glazed grouper fillet and chipotle mashed potatoes. | | | Name:Forge Restaurant Address: 432 Arthur Godfrey Road (41st Street) City: Miami Beach, FL 33140 Phone: (305) 538-8533 Cuisine: American/Continental Comments: In a setting filled with rare, exquisite objects d' art and antiques, The Forge also has a 300,000-bottle wine collection in the cellar to suit any taste for any occasion. Go To Website: The Forge Restaurant | | | Name:The Gaucho Room Address: 1601 Collins Ave. City: Miami Beach FL 33139 Phone: (305) 604-5290 Cuisine: Steak Comments: St. Moritz Building and Lowes Hotel is home to The Gaucho Room. The name sounds like an Argentine steak house, but the Gaucho Room in the landmark St. Moritz Hotel, part of the oceanfront Loew's complex, really is more an Argentine-theme restaurant. Family portraits on the walls and plush faux-steerskin dining couches instead of chairs feed the fantasy that you're eating in the living room of a wealthy pampas cattle rancher, while twentysomething Boy Wonder chef Frank Randazzo more literally feeds fantasies. In fact while the Gaucho has never hyped its steaks, the all-American cuts beat any in town (assuming you're looking for quality rather than quantity), and the superbly flavorful beef, grilled on a traditional parrilla grill and served with chimichurri salsas of varying heats, is even better. But inventive South American/Southwestern fusion specialties such as savory wild mushroom tamales, queso fresco pulled duck empanadas with smoked chili sauce, or annatto-glazed Chilean sea bass with a crunchy jicama/spinach sauté (not to mention desserts like poached fresh exotic fruit with bittersweet chocolate-coated coconut mousse and Malibu rum consommé), would tempt even a genuine gaucho to bag the beef. Go To Website: The Gaucho Room | | | Name: Joes Stone Crab Restaurant Address: 11 Washington Ave City: Miami Beach FL 33139 Phone: (305) 673-0365 Cuisine: Seafood Comments: You know Joe's by now. You know about the storied history, the gloriously sweet stone crabs, the notorious wait to get in. Often overlooked are its consistently good food, truly professional service, free parking (or just four dollars to valet), surprisingly affordable prices (excepting the crabs), and stately ambiance that only a restaurant large enough to seat 450 to 475 people can provide. Tuxedoed waiters whirl through the rooms with oval trays of food held high above their heads, and the ebullient buzz of diners subtly occupies the air like the intangible gathering of ions before a thunderstorm, yet it's difficult to imagine so sizable a dining room being any cozier. Stone crabs are, of course, the mainstay of Joe's menu, and somehow they seem to taste a little fresher and sweeter here. The rest of the menu doesn't disappoint. A dozen types of fresh fish are offered grilled, broiled, blackened, fried, or sautéed, along with specialties like garlic-herb crusted snapper, grouper with cucumber-pepper salsa, and sesame seared tuna. Nearly everybody orders Joe's key lime pie for dessert, renowned for being the best in town. It's part of a formula that explains why, after all these years, people are still willing to wait, and wait some more, to get into Joe's. Go To Website: Stone Crab Restaurant | | | Name:Larios on the Beach Address: 820 Ocean Drive City: Miami Beach, FL 33139 Phone: (305) 532-9577 Cuisine: Type Comments: Established by Co-owner's Gloria and Emilio Estefan, this Ocean Drive restaurant offers gourmet Cuban cuisine. Charming and pretentious this location draws mainly tourists as the prices can be quite high for a local cuisine. Go To Website: Larios on the Beach | | | Name:Les Halles Brasserie Address: 2415 Ponce de Leon Blvd. City: Coral Gables, FL zip Phone: (305) 461-1099 Cuisine: French Comments: Ironically, my first experience with Les Halles Brasserie was in their restaurant at 411 Park Avenue South in Manhattan. Such a great experience lead me to this restaurant of theirs in Coral Gables. Go To Website: Les Halles Brasserie | | | Name:Los Ranchos Address: 2728 Ponce de Leon Boulevard City: Coral Gables, FL 33134 Phone: (305) 446-0050 Cuisine: Nicaraguan, Steak Comments: In the late seventies, four savy Nicaraguan-born entrepreneurs arrived in the city of Miami. Between the four of them, brothers Carlos and Julio Somoza, Abraham Quant and Juan Wong Jr.., they launched the first Los Ranchos restaurant in July of 1981, thereby introducing to Miami's multi-cultural society the heartiness and richness of Los Ranchos now internationally renown signature dishes " Churrasco", "Gallo Pinto" and "Tres Leches". Go To Website: Los Ranchos | | | Name:Morton's of Chicago Address: 17399 Biscayne Blvd. City: North Miami Beach, FL 33160 Phone: (305) 945-3131 Cuisine: Steak Comments: Featuring prime aged, grain-fed beef, this restaurant, which opened in August 1998, is the fourth Morton's to open in South Florida. Morton's is famous for its animated signature tableside menu presentation: steaks, whole Maine lobsters and other main course selections, along with fresh vegetables, are presented on a cart rolled to your table, where the server displays and describes each menu item in appetizing and entertaining detail. Go To Website: Morton's of Chicago | | | Name:Ortanique on the Mile Address: 287 Miracle Mile City: Coral Gables FL 33134 Phone: (305) 446-7710 Cuisine: Caribbean Comments: Named after the rare ortanique, a tropical citrus fruit, the restaurant is elegant in an islandy kind of way. Some of the signature dishes from the creative Caribbean palette include: pumpkin bisque with pepper sherry sauce, jerk chicken penne, conch fritters, snapper escovitche, and grilled tuna with papaya and mango salad. New additions include a broiled mozzarella salad; curried roti stuffed with potatoes, peas, pumpkin, chickpeas and carrots; plus some fantastic seafood like mussels in a coconut curry broth, red snapper ceviche, and spicy calamari salad. Portions are large so two appetizers can be had as a meal or an entrée can be happily shared. Those who manage to save room for dessert are richly rewarded with creations from the ordinary (rum cake) to the outrageous (drunken banana fritters). | | | Name:Osteria del Teatro Address: 1443 Washington Avenue City: Miami, FL 33139 Phone: (305) 538-7850 Cuisine: Type Comments: South Beach, Italian, Eclectic, This small, friendly Northern Italian restaurant is filled with close tables, so don't expect any privacy. The atmosphere is quite interesting. With one of the trendiest clubs on South Beach, Liquid, being across the street to the South, and the Cameo Theater (scene of many alternative concerts) next door the North, people watching is truly an interesting activity during dinner. The restaurant has huge windows (essentially glass walls) on two sides facing the street (since it's on a corner). | | | Name:Porcao Churracaria Address: 801 South Bayshore Drive City: Miami, FL 33131 Phone: (305) 373-2777 Cuisine: Steak Comments: Porcao offers an all-you-can-eat festival for carnivores. There is a salad bar that has more selections than one person can even try. The waiters come to your table again and again trying to make you say, "I quit." They feed you till you almost burst. The meats, cooked with a specialized broiling oven that cooks with rotating skewers, come out expertly prepared. | | | Name:Smith & Wollensky Address: 1 Washington Ave. City: Miami Beach, FL 33139 Phone: (305) 673-2800 Cuisine: Steak Comments: This New York City-based steak house is a mixed bag. Split pea soup, juicy filet mignon, creamed spinach, and milk chocolate créme brûlée make for a well-rounded meal. Veal NY/Milan, a pounded chop, is especially tasty. At 560 seats the restaurant has plenty of room, but it also gets plenty of business. Make reservations for your decadence, and don't forget to stop by the bank beforehand. About Appraisals >The Language of Real Estate Agents
Technical terms can be confusing to people who do not work in a profession, and real estate agents use language that may be confusing to many home buyers and sellers.
If you find your eyes glazing over when your real estate agent starts talking about escrow, clear title, easements, encroachments, contingencies, financing, appraisals and the closing process, don't hesitate to ask for a translation. Buying or selling a home is a major step, and professional real estate agents are totally committed to helping you understand the process thoroughly so that you can make informed decisions.
The simple transaction of trading the sellers' house for the buyers' money has become complicated by several hundred years of custom, common law, and state and local government requirements. Consumer demands have resulted in up-to-date rules that communication be as clear and understandable as possible. Real estate agents work to create an atmosphere in which you feel comfortable to ask questions.
